Olympics
The Vancouver Olympics just finished, and the London Olympics start in 2 years. Both of these Olympics are over budget by billions of dollars, so my question is the following: Is it worth spending billions of dollars by the host country for the olympics?

I think that this money they spend on the olympics is good because they spend it on something that most of the world likes to see. Spending money on the olympics is worth it because these are probably the best athletes in the world and they are out there trying to represent the place they come from.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a good idea that we spend alot of money on the olympics because most of the world watch these games. Its not like we are wasting it on bad things, we are spending on probably the best athletes we have in the U.S. and they are out there doing a good job trying to represent where they come from and who they are trained by.
ReplyDeletei think that the olympics is a good event that gets attention from places all over the world but over spending in the olympics is not necessary, even when we all enjoy the amazing show that is offered i think there are more important issues that could be adressed using that money.
ReplyDeletei believe that spending billions of dollars in the olympics is a good investment, since the olympics is something good that promotes athletics which is something that should be strongly enforced all around the world, we spend billions of dollars in other places like war.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a good idea to spend that much of money because most of the countries would love to have the olympics taken place in their. So if they would like to have olympics, they should be in great economy. And also, most people enjoy watching them and having a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteI believe that it is a good idea for countries that can afford the large amount of money to have the Olympics. It is also great because it brings more tourists and their for more money into the government so giving them more money for what they have spent.
ReplyDeleteI think that the olimpics is somethiing that most people around the world enjoy watching as they see people from there country compete.On the other hand i also consider that this event is a waste of money since there is an economic crisis,therefore i think this money should be used to pay off debts
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i think that spending billions of dollars by the host country for the olympics is worth it. When the olympics goes to a certain city of a certain country, tourism is REALLY high. Alot of money is spent on the businesses in that city and so that gives the economy a lift. After the olympics are done, the tourism wont stop because people are gonna wanna go back and see the history that was made, so in the case it also gives a chance for that country to get a big recognition & People will still want to visit. So that means more money.
ReplyDeleteIn my personal opinion I think that by spending billions of dollars by hosting the country's for the olympics is worth because when you have good athletics around the world. The athletes that are in the olympics not only competing for themselves but they are representing where they come from so basically spending a lot of money on them shouldnt matter because the world spends a lot of money on everything else.
ReplyDeleteThere's an upside an downside to this issue, the country is spending loads of money on Olympics knowing we're in dept but they're making this a tradition like thing when we don't really need it. Although I understand why people may see the interest in watching it, but i don think they should be spending that much towards it. So my answer is no, i don't think it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i think that spending lots of money on the Olympics is good it shows how its important to everyone but the fact of the host of it paying more is not such a good idea because the Olympics are not just that country its all and for that reason all country's should take on the responsibility.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is not worth it, the reason i say its not is because they spend a lot of money one event when they could be spending it on something way more important, like spendin it on debts.

ReplyDeleteThe Country That Want to host The Olymipcs That year should think twice before applying to be a host country, They Can spend Their money on more important things and prioritize the countries needs. For example housing,education, health Care and debt. So No I dont belive the spending for these events is worth it.
I believe there is so many other things that a country should worry about other that the olympics. I do understand and agree that it is something that should be shown world wide because there is many children that look up to all of these athletes and have something to look foward to. But to spend billions seems unnecessary and outragious. It might sound selfish but i feel that any country that is thinking in hosting the olympics should think about fixing their economic status before having any type of unecessary expenses like these and people should understand that it is for their own benefit.
ReplyDeletei think hosting the olympics is a really good idea. the reason being for that is because they get that money that they spend, and what the country gets back is way more than what is spent.People spend a lot of money to visit the country that is hosting the olympics.They spend their money all in the country they're staying at. they'll spend it on food, hotels,and other things, but that money stays in the country...and a lot of wealthy people from all over the world visit the olympic country and they use their money in that country.
