Sam vs Obama

Analyze the following cartoon.

What do you think it says about the United States, what does it say about yourself?

  1. This comment shoes that the United States is trying to make an effort to prevent global warming, and pollution of the air we breath. Also save to save oil. This shows that the United States pays attention to what goes on, and what concerns the people. By doing this the United States is trying to persuade citizens to use other forms of transportation that does not use oil. For myself this tells me that i should walk to places that are in walking distant instead of driving a car that uses gas. This will persuade me to ride my long board or roller skate instead of using up the oil.

  2. In this politcal cartoon this to me means that we really aren't giviing our everything to stop all this bad contamination.
We just go do and finish other paperwork and let the worst stay behind us

  3. I think that this is showing what happens alot of the time with our goverment... they say there for something and then not do anything with it. We do need to find other energys. The goverment needs to do something about the oil now but there's almost nothing being done and what is being done is going slow. We need to start as of NOW to change and start using what we do have renewable energys like the sun and wind the sun rises every day and the wind blows most of the time.

  4. The United Stated intends to pursue a better environment for our country. It shows that we are trying to promote a better living and a stop to global warming and pollution. We should learn from this Picture, that theres other energy alternatives, than oil. We been so caught up, on oil and air pollution that many people dont realize the effect that its causing. Hopefully we do succeed from this illustration and go forward in really trying to stop global warming.

  5. This political cartoon is great! It shows clearly that the U.S isn't capable of living without oil. Even Uncle Sam cant live with out it, and he is no t even a real person. I honestly think the government is all bark, not bite. If we would really care about our oil consuption, we would have done something about it already. Like obama said, "HOPE".

  6. It means that obama is trying to take us away from our obsession with oil and driving, because our natural resources are dissapearing. But us being lazy americans would rather drive then walk. it means that obama is trying to help us but were not exactly doing our part. Uncle Sam represents us. it tells me we should'nt waste our natural resources like gas and oil because it's running out especially because of the recent oil spill. i loved the cartoon.

  7. It shows that obama is trying to make a difference by saving our nonrenuable resources like the oil used in engines for example. Although most americans are trying to save others simply believe that using oil is ok. It represents me because i do try to save the enviornment and not take it for granted

  8. The cartoon shows us how Obam is aware of the oil and is trying to make a difference, and how the oil spill is affecting us today. Uncle sam is also respecting us.This tells me how we should be more careful on the oil spill and how we can make a difference.

  9. The cartoon shows that ameroca is addicted to oil. Obama is trying to get us out of that adiction. this cartoon dose not reflect me becaouse i dont have a car but for those who do this affects them.

  10. This says that America will truly never end its dependance on oil. We will always rely on cars, therefore we will always rely on oil. No matter how hard obama tries, its probably not going to happen. This says that I am dependent on oil too because i am included when i say "America".
