Conservative activists on the Texas Board of Education say that the authors of the Constitution intended the United States to be a Christian nation. And they want America’s history textbooks to say so.

  2. I think the thought of people wanting to be a one religious nation is not good. I think that the people should believe in the religion they want. It is america and they have the right to choose they're religion, its part of the amendments. People should respect each others beliefs because every person is entitled to believe in what they want no matter what other people think.

  3. I honestly beleive that this is not true or as i say not a beleiver in this topic. Beacause i beleive there are more religions and other beleifs in this world especially now a days. And i think every person should have his or her opinion on what they beleve and should just ignore other people that dont agree.

  4. my personal view on this issue is that this so call activists have no right in deciding one's religion. Therefore by them doing this, in a way they are emphezising the practice of this religion for all students that study out of this text.So in conclusion they are violating th freedom of religion in a slightly way.

  5. In my opinion i think what the founding fathers wanted for the nation shouldnt matter as much anymore. They were alive way back then and alot of things have changed. Back then the founding fathers owned slaves and didnt let women vote. Things are different now. what matters now is what america needs. People Should have the right to believe in what they want. People came to america for religious freedom. everyone has different views. And if we are forced to belive in one, it's like taking away our freedom.

  6. One of the amendments are to have freedom of religion. So basically their already breaking that law. Im speaking from my point of view I am a christian by choice not force and I personally like the teaching and if that's why they are wanting to enforce christianity everywhere that's not particularly their job to do. It should be there choice to abide by any religion the want, not becuase they have to.

  7. I think that is not true and i dont believe in it. the reason i say that is because there are more beleifs and religons in the world. But in some religions the only thing they belive is what says in the bible.

  8. its so different now because there are so many religion and and Christianity is just one of many. Nowadays things are based off different things not just religion. Religion is just something people believe in and there's some people who don't believe in any religion. so my opinion is that its not true.

  9. I dnt agree with it Because Christianity is not the only religion in the U.S.This is a free country and everyone should have the right to decide what religion they want to practice. I Dont think that educational text books should include religious practices and opinions because it kind of gives a message that it is the correct way of reliqion.

  10. I think that when they wrote the constitution that is exactly what they meant. I dont think they were thinking about all the other religions. Just like im sure they didnt mean all men are created equal as much as all white men are created equal. I think the books should say that because thats what they meant and they shouldnt lie to us students.

  11. I think the founding fathers were "supposed" christians, our laws are pretty much based on moral beliefs and it goes with some things the bible says, like not being able to kill someone or being able to steal, etc.
But in my opinion i dont think the founding fathers were true christians, they just called themselves that.

  12. According to the passage the founding fathers were christian. its too bad that they made the first amendment. Religion is an important role in the lives of many Americans including Hispanics, and the U.S. is full of us. not only us but other races too.

  13. I don't think the founding fathers were christians because if they were they would accept everyone religion. The first amendement did say that everyone has a freedom of what religion they feel to believe in. To me I think religion is important thing for Americans because without this it would cause lots of problems with different cultures. So in my opinion I really don't think the founding fathers were "christians" like their suppose to be.
